This Is Us...
This Is Us...
Where we started, who we are, and where we're going.
We started as a simple thought with a background of sadness. In June 2023 Trooper Jacques Rougeau Jr (Pennsylvania State Police) was killed in the line of duty. Fast forward to 2024 and an idea was born. There was a clear need to provide services to a specific demographic of people, our 1st Responders.
A group was formed, some meetings were held and it was decided to create a legitimate organization. First came voting on a name (thanks ChatGPT for coming up with the PERFECT choice!), and that's how Supporting Our Heroes of Central Pennsylvania (SOH) came to be from that day forward.
With any legitmate organization came the work that follows. There were disagreements, struggles, and long meetings with this journey. A board needed to be chosen, bylaws needed to be created, an attorney needed to be hired, the name needed to be registered - many hours later all of that was done. We became an official 501c3! This organization was no longer just an idea. We knew that SOH now belonged to all of us - and when we say all, we mean the entire community that we serve (Mifflin, Juniata and Perry Counties).
We were born from ultimate sacrifice, and we will never forget.
Now we move forward. We support ALL 1st Responders, including police, EMS, 911 dispatchers and fire.
We have continued to grow by leaps and bounds, with a lot of help and a whole bunch of faith in what we're doing and why we're doing it.
SOH has been able to pay bills for 1st responders in need, provide nourishment for our 1st responders on scene and offer support to them when they are working on days that most of us have off.
Simply put, we have made it our mission to have their backs, just like they have ours. They leave their families and loved ones to save us, daily. Some get paid, some don't, but they all believe in what they do and have a mission, just like us. We appreciate them all!
Most importantly, we could not be us without you. The community, the businesses, the friends and family - we are one. You know the old saying - there is no I in Team? We believe in this, to our core.
Alone we can do so little, but together - oh the things we can do!
